Things pick up

Austin has gone from being nearly hell to being a pretty alright place.

My poor Saturn finally died. Well, maybe died isn't the right word, but he's become unreliable to the point where I had to buy a new car.

I got a job selling insurance to union members. Yeah, it's not the most exciting job. But, I think it will financially allow me to cover all my bills and get a few other things I need, as well as giving me enough free time to stay on track with writing.

Tonight's plans:

Interview Brendan and Neil from The Lawrence Arms about their other band The Falcon. Go see Chris (the third member of the Arms) play an acoustic set at MonkeyWrench Books. Watch Madeline play a set at the same place. Make my way back across town to Emo's in time to see The Lawrence Arms' set.

In other news:

I'm going to be doing some public relations work for a couple small Austin labels... Arclight Records and C-Side Records. I'm really excited about it. The latter of the two is more along the lines of indie pop (see Golden Bear), while Arclight has a line-up ranging from metal to experimental folk-rock.

If you read this, leave a comment. Don't ask why.

Man, you're doin it - awesome. I'm doing film reviews for a couple sites, and freelance for roanoke times, but geez - interviewing bands in the middle of the austin music scene, crazy.
